As of the time of writing this, Infinitude is a little over 2 weeks away from release (on 6.7.24). It’s been a long project and one that I’m immensely proud of, but there’s always a challenge to accurately answer the question, “So what is Infinitude?” There’s a lot of ways to answer that question – as I’ve found out since creating an author Instagram – so I thought this post would be helpful for anyone interested or on-the-fence with purchasing.
How would I describe Infinitude?
Trying to distance myself a bit from the answers below in order to offer even more clarity into how I view this story, I’d start with: it’s a story where I began with the end in mind, which I believe is what helps make the most satisfying tales, and conclusions.
Infinitude starts with a man, Aiontis, who has no memory of the last few months. He chooses to travel back in time, unknowingly starting on an adventure that takes him across various moments in history such as feudal Japan, World War I, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and even events from the future.
Along the way, he is pursued by a mysterious enemy while also encountering the same woman in multiple different points throughout history. These mysteries unfold – and reveal a much bigger one that deals with 4th dimensional beings – that puts the fate of all timelines in the hands of a few.
Within the pages of Infinitude, you’ll find my signature action sequences, thoughtful relationships between characters, including a timeless romance, a cerebral and challenging time-based plot, as well as detailed world-building. As is the case with most of my writing it is “R-rated”, so take that into consideration if you have any triggers or were potentially purchasing it for anyone younger than 14/15 years old.
What’s Infinitude’s synopsis?
HE MUST TRAVEL THROUGH TIME TO SOLVE AN INFINITE MYSTERY
Omaha, 2404 – Aiontis Breaker, a modern-day “Historian Consultant”, awakes with no memory of the last several weeks. But…there is a strange need to travel back in time to New York City years prior, on a mission to score a long-banned drug, Jinx.
Pursuing him is a mysterious enemy, The Scarred Man, guided by a rage-filled desire birthed in the future he comes from. But he too senses that his memories may not paint the full picture…
Join both characters as they time travel across different moments in history throughout this pulse-pounding, science-fiction thriller from author J.T. Rath. Their journey will introduce them to deeper mysteries, and an enigmatic woman who exists across eras. They soon realize that the answers they seek are bigger than they could have ever imagined, interfacing with a war of unfathomable scale, bringing tangible meaning to the word, infinitude.
What genre is Infinitude?
Infinitude is first and foremost a science-fiction story, though that would be underselling the finer details (as is often the case when using such a broad genre description). Within Infinitude, you’ll experience the following genres/subgenres woven throughout
- Time travel
- Historical fiction
- Romance
- Action/adventure
- Apocalyptic sci-fi
- Futuristic sci-fi
What tropes can be found in Infinitude?
The word “trope” can sometimes get a bad rap, but realistically it can be a good way to describe the type of story a reader can expect based on familiar concepts that exist elsewhere in storytelling. Keeping in mind the genres above, here are some of the tropes you’ll see in Infinitude (some more common than others!)
- Good vs. Evil
- Lost memories
- Romance across time
- Multiple POVs (points of view)
- Enemies to friends
To go any further feels like I would be giving the entire story away so I’ll stop there. If you’re a fan of adventure, action, and science-fiction, I’m sure you’ll love this book and it’s on sale VERY soon!
